Goa: Student Engineering to find out the highway trends

PANAJI: Goa College of Engineering (GEC), Farmagudi, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Department of Water Resources (WRD) which will provide opportunities for faculties, GEC researchers to make used to the latest trends in the highway sector and transportation.
The MoU is expected to bridge the industrial institutional gap and introduce students with the latest trends where their research can be adopted.
GEC Farmagudi will adopt the stretch of national highways around it as a voluntary initiative in the institutional social responsibility (ISR), which they will use as a field of study for faculties, researchers and students.
It will provide internships to 10 undergraduate / postgraduate students regularly and also extend the monthly allowance of Rs 8,000 for undergraduate students and rs 15,000 for graduate students in the field of transportation engineering, structural engineering, technical engineering Geo, Earthquake, Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, Planning Urban and rural, disaster mitigation and management, etc.

The MOU signed with WRD is to prepare for the State Special Action Plan (SSAP) where status reports will be prepared to define the problems / problems associated with all aspects of water resources, including the current situation of development and management of water resources, water governance, arrangements institutions, water related policies, cross-border problems, agreements, etc.
GEC will identify a series of possible solutions to overcome the main problem / area problems that provide pro and contra solutions and prepare a detailed action plan for each strategy / activity identified to be implemented by the state.
