VALPOI: The water supply to Paikul and several other villages in the area was finally restored on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, one and a half months after the July 23 floods washed away from the Paicul Bridge and damaged the water channel on it.
Efforts that are consistent by the state government and the PWD water supply department in Valpoi to put a 160 mm high-diameter of the Polyethylene (HDPE) on the Ragada River have now ensured that the supply of drinking water is stable to the population of Paikul, Rail, Melauli, Murmune and Maigine.
This was the government’s first attempt in putting waterways on the river in Sattari Taluka, an assistant engineer at the Valpoi Water Supply Office, Soma rose, told Ti.
The decision was taken at a meeting and high-level work that had just been held in 45 days.
Rising said that when working on restoring the water supply to the area was underway, the occupants of Paikul solely depend on water from the well.
“The neighboring villages are equipped with tanker water,” he said.
