PANAJI: Panaji City Corporation (CCP) has initiated new efforts to identify unsafe structures in the capital city and the possibility of completing surveys on weekends.
CCP commissioner Agnelo Fernandes said that the CCP official team identified a weak and dilapidated building in the city that was missed from the initial list of 18 unsafe structures identified in Panaji.
Goa watched the mantra throughout the week heavy rains that lowered some of the old buildings next to the popular baking shop in Panaji.
The collapse of the building, which is not in the list of uncle CCP structures, forces the Civic body to see closely with the structural integrity of old buildings and inheritance.
“The junior engineer and supervisory team are in the job of traveling around the city.
On Friday, the report will be ready and sent and then we issued an ad,” Fernandes said.
Major Panaji Rohit Monserrate said that the CCP will do a “far more comprehensive survey” in the city.
Unsafe structures must be repaired by the owner or must be emptied and destroyed for security reasons and to prevent loss of life.
Most of the poor panaji buildings are in Fontainhas and the CCP have struggled to contact many owners who live abroad or are unknown.
None of the 18 structures identified by the CCP suffered damage due to heavy shower.
