Ponda: The fear of the dengue outbreak has gripped the population of Nagzar Curti in Ponda after the possibility of deaths related to the disease transmitted through vectors.
In the exact increase, 17, who died on Tuesday, had a high fever over the past five days.
His family said that he must have died because of bloody fever because he had all the symptoms.
However, nodal officers for diseases borne by vectors at the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Panaji, Dr.
Kalpana Mahatme said that it was not confirmed if the girl died of dengue fever.
Five days ago his grandfather also died of the same symptoms.
The cause of death is also unknown.
The source of the Ponda Health Department claimed that there were two alleged cases of dengue fever in the area a few days ago, but both of them healed.
“We have asked the Goa Medical College to tell us about the diagnosis of the deceased because he was undergoing treatment there,” Mahatme said.
He said that the teenager was originally treated at the Ponda sub-district hospital.
“Even though it hasn’t confirmed that the girl died with bloody fever, I had asked Ponda’s health officials to do fogging around it,” Mahatme said.
