Panaji: Parents from a 19-year-old woman whose body was found in Calangute Beach on Saturday attacked the Goa police, with her father stating that the police confused her when she was still disturbed after seeing her daughter’s body, and took it “the wrong statement” from her.
He also accused the police to spread lies in the media regarding the deceased’s relationship with him.
He said that when the woman’s body was found on the beach, she was supposed to be called to identify her in place.
“How did the police shift a semi-nude body? The police showed me the body at GMC, and I identified it as my daughter.
I asked the police where her clothes, and the police told me that they were looking for the same,” he said.
He said that when he saw his daughter’s body, he was disturbed.
“Even though in this same disturbed condition, police personnel began to confuse me increasingly by questioning me if he went for a picnic, or did he know swimming,” he said.
“The police confused me and took my wrong statement.
They have notified the media that I have not given a cellphone to my daughter.
They also told the media that we used to fight.
She is my loving daughter,” he said.
Father said that when he approached the police Mapala to register a lost complaint, the police said that he must have a boyfriend, and therefore this incident must have happened.
“I told the police that he wasn’t like that, and he didn’t call anyone,” he said.
“We want justice, and anyone behind the incident must be punished,” said the late mother.
“We want to know how he died and why he died.
If he died suicide by jumping into the sea, then how did his body dry and not wet?” He said that his daughter used to come out with them, and not someone else.
“Why doesn’t the police call us into place? What is their reason to shift the body?” Father said that he took a bus in Guirim.
“His brother was waiting for him in Porvorim, but I got a call from the sister who didn’t reach Porvorim.
After my call went to Panaji to look for it,” he said.
The Father said that because the police did not act on complaints, such an incident occurred and his daughter lost his life.
The deceased’s neighbor was too suspicious of playing in his death.
The deceased relatives said that when he asked the doctor how much the water was found in his stomach (when the doctor said that he was drowning), the doctors said there was no water in his stomach.
Another neighbor tried to know why he was not dressed if he died of suicide.
“We will sit at Azad Maidan on Monday for justice, and if we do not get justice, we will decide further action,” said the neighbor.
Meanwhile, Aldona Mla Glen Ticlo said that the Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant would decide whether to transfer cases to Crime Branch for detailed investigations.
