Panaji: While all major decisions during the first wave and both Pandemic Covid-19 were taken by the government, an expert committee consisting of doctors from the government and the private sector would be more said in decisions relating to management related to management.
“The Expert Committee will continue to function and suggest state authorities from time to time on the appropriate action to be adopted to fight the Covid-19 pandemic effectively,” Advocate General Devidas Pangam told the High Court on Tuesday because the court was discarded by several petitions related to pandemics.
Pangam also convinced the court that in many cases, the recommendation by the Committee was received by the government because this came from the expert body formed by the state government itself.
Although there are expert committees in the place during the first wave of pandemics too, the advice is rarely considered by the government.
The State Executive Committee, which consists of bureaucrats, mostly decides on the course of action.
“One of the old committee members was invited to be part of the second expert committee too, but he refused to consider his previous experience.
He thought it was a waste of time because the government would destroy the suggestions offered,” said a member of the new expert committee with anonymous requirements.
However, the government has now begun to take panel suggestions seriously, said members, especially after the pandemic brought in a catastrophe in the state during April and May this year.
“Most of the suggestions made by the Second Expert Committee have been received so far,” added members.
The state also has a task force, led by the Head of the Sawant Minister of Pramod, in place.
Both the expert committee and task force are formed after predictions that the third-19 covid wave is likely to regage the country.
Both of them work together tandem too, as an expert committee generally submitted its advice to the task force.
