Ponda / Old Goa: A year after the Madkai legislator and former PWD Minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar raised the problem of supply of irregular supply of water supply to its electoral district; The Department of Public Works (PWD) has put a new pipe.
It has completed a three-year-old water tripse in the Marcoim area, Dresses by increasing water supply.
Dhavalikar, who is a new pipe assigned on Monday, thanks for the Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant and the Minister of PwD Deepak Pauskar for putting a new pipe between Kundaim and Madkai.
“They managed to get administrative approval for the project despite a pandemic,” Dhavalikar said.
The new 300mm pipe will bring water from the 300 cubic meter tank in Kundaim and will benefit the population of Adanwada, Aksanwada, Wadalwada, Tonca, Dhutale Wada and Hanso Wada in the Madkai area and Bandora.
Apart from this, the existing Mardol Pipe, which is connected to the Madkai tank, will be cut off in Mahalwada and this line will be used to supply water to Mahalwada, Ladiwada, Parampai and Gavane.
Executive Engineer Air Division Nivruti Parsekar said the villages used to deal with water problems because of a small 200 mm diameter pipe filled with dressing water, paramped and madkai water needs.
Before a new pipe, residents receive water supplies only on alternative days.
“We accept the water supply on alternative days and it is only for two hours.
The water pressure is very low so that sometimes, it takes about one and a half hours to fill a small steel tank,” said Supriya Narvestar, a elderly citizen in Adanwada.
Narvestar said his family had used buying mineral water to meet their drinking water needs.
While connecting water shortages with an increase in the number of households in Madkai and increasing demand in the Kundiaim industrial area, Dhavalikar also showed a delayed start for work.
Madkai Sarpanch Lakshmi Volvoikar said the increase in both, population and industry, had caused increased demand for extraordinary water.
“According to the 2011 census report, the Madkai population is around 6,000, but the area consists of seven wards, has undergone demographic changes since the emergence of the industry,” Volvoikar said.
