Panaji: After the water starts to recede from a flood-hit area on Saturday, the electricity department begins to restore the power supply to these regions in the country of interior east of the state.
Working to recover the power supply takes place at night.
Flood water entered around 110 distribution transformers in several parts of Sattari, Khandper and Dharbandora, among others.
“This transformer is embedded in very deep water.
The department turns it off on Friday when the water surface starts to rise and start cleaning it and restores the power supply after the water starts to recede on Saturday,” said Electric Engineer Head Raghuvir Keni to Ti.
The department has also issued instructions to his staff to help families with floods whose cables may experience damage and gadgets affected because flood water enters their homes.
“Many of these are houses of mud and may need repair of their internal cable if there is a leak.
Our department will do this as social responsibility at our costs.
People must be guarded.
They can face problems with their refrigerators and switch to other equipment.
