Panaji: The average cumulative rainfall of the country from June 1 to now is 5% higher than usual.
Compared to the last two years, when precipitation is 31-33% above normal, this year so far normal.
There are not many possibilities to receive excess rainfall rainfall in the remaining 10 days of the season, the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) said.
“Light rainfall to moderate will continue and the total season will be close or around the normal value of the season,” said IMD.
The cumulative rainfall in Goa from June 1 to September 20 is 3009 mm which is 5% higher than the average.
The IMD record shows that Goa received surplus rainfall in the last two years – 2019 and 2020 – due to various weather systems.
In 2019, cumulative rainfall of Goa until September 19 was 33% higher than normal in 2020 it was 31% more percent.
Although monsoon activity has been weak on Goa for the past few days, IMD has expected higher rainfall activities in the state of September 21 and so on due to two weather systems.
“Rainfall exceeds 6cm in 24 hours the possibility of being in one or two places above Goa, starting September 21 and so on, and the increase in spatial distribution is also possible,” said IMD.
