Panaji: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Kunal, held a meeting of all political parties on Friday and told them that remembering the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of voting stations in Goa for the assembly selection of 2022 will increase to avoid crowding.
The Indian election commission has asked the CEO in Goa to cover the number of voters per stan polling at 1,000.
He also told the parties that Covid-19 patients, those above 80 and they with disabilities more than 40% would be able to give their voices from home, through ballots.
Representatives from BJP, Congress, MGP and the Goa forward party were present for meetings.
“According to the ECI guidelines and because Covid, they have decided to limit the number of voters at the 1,000 polling station, which means that the additional new poll will be made.
This is to prevent crowding at the polling station,” said Vice President GFP Durgadas Kamat, who was present at the meeting .
Kunal tells the parties that the pre-polling process has begun, with the revision of the selection roll which will begin from November 1.
The voter verification process will continue until November 30.
“Covid patients, those who are disabled and those who are disabled and those who are disabled and they are above 80 will be able to give their votes from home.
Eci officials will go to their homes with ballots.
The Election Commission has organized a special camp for those who do not have Disability certificate, to help them get a disability certificate, “said an official with the CEO office.
ECI has also launched the application, Suvidha, for political parties to find permits needed during the election.
“An application called SUVIDHA has been made for all political parties to find permissions through one platform.
All departments such as the police will be integrated with them, so it will save them too and we too.
Like the last time, we might not need to run,” Kamat said .
During the meeting, the Congress repeated his objections to the appointment of most BLOs in the Mormaga constituency of a single electoral district.
“We have raised concerns about Mormagao, where from 29 BLO, 16 came from one department, the electricity department, and this has been going on for a long time,” said the country of Vicepressident Altinho Gomes.
Kunal has notified political parties that similar meetings will be held every month to remove hiccups in the pre-polling process and to prepare for upcoming assembly elections.
