Panaji: The Goa Government has decided to submit Affidavit this week before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) seeks a one-month extension to the deadline to complete the draft plan of the coastal zone management of the Goa (CZMP).
In accordance with NGT’s direction, the plan must be completed on August 31.
The state received 8,000 suggestions and objections to CZMP from residents for July 8.
Various government institutions work to verify this input.
“Our deadline ended on August 31, before that we will submit Affidavit before NGT looking for extensions.
We will ask for September 30 to complete the job.
The work verifies the suggestions and objections now,” said Minister of Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral.
This is the fourth cave extension to search from the court to complete the CZMP.
In March, NGT has extended the goa deadline until August 31.
The court has given orders in November 2017 directing all states and the United States to submit their CZMP on August 31, 2018.
But when the Goa plan was prepared by National based in Chennai.
Continuous coastal management center (NCSCM), residents found several mistakes in the plan plan.
This caused extensive protests throughout the state, after the Goa government agreed to find an extension in the deadline to prepare CZMP for Goa.
Even though the extension was given three times, Goa missed every deadline.
In the last case, August 31 was determined by NGT after the Goa Foundation was approaching a court that accused severe shortages in public hearings carried out on March 7 by the state government.
The number of participants in March 7 hearing was limited to 100 because of the pandemic and each speaker was only given five minutes to speak, the Goa Foundation had told NGT.
Based on NGT’s direction, the Goa government then held another hearing on July 8.
