Panaji: As head of state towards the 2022 assembly poll, the University of Goa and the general public will be able to learn about the country’s democratic system and polling through a short-term online course introduced in the Department of Political Science by the Head of the Head of the Main Election, in collaborative efforts.
The ‘Democracy and Election Management Course in India’ aims to introduce participants to the concept of democracy and the largest voter engine function in the world.
This course will also include direct training at actual EVM.
The total total duration will be 12 hours, spread over four weeks from November 22 to December 22, Gu said.
This course has been examined by the Indian International Democracy Institute and Election Management, New Delhi, and approved by the Academic Board of Gu.
It is also open to government officials and those who will work as officials of chairmen / voting in the upcoming countries elections.
“Certificate of participation to be given to all meet basic class requirements.
All lectures will be available on YouTube, with the opportunity to interact directly with resource persons,” said Gu.
Those who are interested must register before November 17 and must have a minimum class XII qualification.
“For community members, government officials and election officials, these are non-credit courses and they will be asked to only answer MCQ at the end of the course, which they have to successfully qualify for certificates,” Gu said.
While students must pay Rs 90 for courses, members of the general public will be charged a fee of Rs 2,000.
Government officials will pay a nominal amount or at no cost.
