Goa University postponed an offline test of three weeks

PANAJI: Because the level of covid-19 pepony up rapidly in Goa, Goa University (GU) issued a circular on Thursday delayed all offline exam scheduled from January 14, three weeks.
The test will now be held from February 7 and so on.
The decision came for hours after the University of Goa on Thursday stated before the Bombay High Court in Goa that it would hold a meeting to intentionally over the issue of online use of all streams and inform the decision to the court on January 14 at the petition on January 14, seeking online exam behavior For the last year students because of the increase in Covid-19 infection in the state.
“We hope that the university will consider the safety of students and other community members before making a decision,” the division bench consisting of Judge Sadhana Jadhav and Manish Pitale was observed.
During the hearing of this case, Parag Rao, the applicant’s lawyer was presented to the Court Chart Table which showed an exponential increase in the number of Covid cases per day.
He said that in such situations it would be better to be safe than sorry next.
Advice that appears for the university said that online checks were carried out only to maintain educational standards and student assessment.
Furthermore, advisors said that the university would meet the problem on January 13 and inform the decision to the court on January 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Therefore, GU issued a circular then stated “in accordance with OS-1 specific regulations relating to the exam behavior during the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been decided that all offline checks from general and professional programs are scheduled to start on January 14, and so on to be postponed Three weeks and will be carried out from February 7 and so on.
“In accordance with the circulation issued by GU on January 4, the last year’s exam will occur in offline or physical mode.
For all other scholars students, the university said that the exam will take place in online mode.
The final semester examination for postgraduate programs at GU and in affiliated general stream colleges will also be held in offline mode.
The decision was taken on January 4 after the representative of the Chancellor of the University of Harilal B Menon held a consultation with the principal in the state.
However, many students demand that the last year and the PG exam should not be carried out in offline mode, due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in the state.
The university in his statement on January 4 has said that it was decided that the last year’s exam must be carried out physically in an effort “to enforce the highest academic standards of university degrees in the current pandemic situation”.
During the past week, students also protested to conduct an off-line test.
The Indian National Student Union (NSUI) has met PS Governor Sreedharan Pillai on Monday, urging him to convince the government to conduct an online exam and class.
Students were also detained last week because they tried to march to the official residence of CM.
