Panaji: Microbiology and expert on wild mushrooms, Nandakumar Kamat has asked the State Forest Department to declare HEIMII Termitasik as a wild mushroom of the country of Goa.
This species is one of the most exploited and there is a need to save it, Kamat said.
Mushrooms are picked from termite mounds in the forest area, meadow, plateaus and hillside in Goa and Karnataka.
“If termites are revoked from mushrooms, they will starve and die.
It will release a new virus from insect carrier and forest biotic structure and our grasslands will collapse when the mountains of the dead plant material will suffocate them.
If this dry plant material remains not composed, The forest will be susceptible to forest fires and turn into abu mound, “Kamat said.
A single thermite hill is a “solid waste management factory that is environmentally friendly and environmentally friendly” conversion every year to 200 kg of biomass of dead plants and restores valuable nutrients to the ground.
Scientists say that the fast erosion of the biodiversity species of Goa from forest habitat and meadow, which they have occupied during millions of years, is very serious so that “we reach a critical point that is critical where the thermitomy ecosystem can collapse”.
Kamat said that the Ministry of Forestry had to collaborate closely with the council of the Biodiversity of the Goa State and the 190 Biodiversity Management Committee, especially those from the West Ghats region who were rich in fungus in Goa, and notified a list of wild thermitomy species, which should not be touched on all.
“This is an activity of 130 million years old.
The most surprising thing is that people don’t even know or care about the scientific identity of the Thermitomi species they consume.
The Ministry of Forestry has also determined the identity of excessive thermitomy species and told the prohibition,” Kamate Toi said.
He said that it was caused by the diversity of thermitomy species carried out by crossing organisms to cause evolution of new species.
However, the process has been disturbed in Goa due to overexploarding mushrooms, Kamat said.
“Therefore we dismantle the decolution process of 130 million years from evolutionary speciation in a short time.
This is a big disaster.”
