PANAJI: With the activity of the Monsun in the weakest phase of the season and there is no strong system that might soon be formed, light rainfall to moderate in isolated places will continue until Friday.
The overall deficit touches 2% on Monday.
After excessive rainfall in 13 days during July triggered the worst flood in 40 years, the rainy season activity was subdued for almost a month.
While 702.3mm rainfall is normal during August, so far only 270mm has been recorded – only 38% of the total – with only a week for the month it ended.
The deficit in the third month has been high in 62%.
On Monday, the total seasonally prepared close to the 100-inch mark, as the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Panaji has recorded 2,504.6mm (98.6 inches).
The total deficit arises since Saturday and rose to 2%, as a total of 2,662 (104.8 inches) normal at this stage.
Over the past eight days, rare rainfall and IMD, Panaji recorded almost 50mm as the average state rainfall.
The rainfall in August has farmers worried because rice plants have reached a critical growth stage.
“There will be no significant change for about five days,” said IMD source.
