PANAJI: Minister of Power Nilesh Cabral said on Wednesday that Goa would reach 100% household electrification at the end of this year.
“My concern has become a household in certain villages without a very long supply,” he told Toi.
“Initially, 250 households in Goa did not have electricity.
So far, we have provided a 150th connection, and 100 will be given soon.” The proposal will be placed in front of the cabinet immediately, and after the Cabinet approval, a contractor will start work, said Minister Strength.
“Houses without electricity are located throughout the interior,” he said.
The problem arises because it cannot be accessed by the house from the grid.
“In such cases, the process of giving electricity is a long process.
The houses are in the remote part of the country, mostly in wooded areas,” he said.
The electricity department has provided houses such as the basic plug point through renewable energy sources.
“That’s how we are dealing with problems,” he said.
Another area of ​​the ministry has worked, he said, is a solar energy project.
Starting from zero, he said they installed 20 solar roofs within two years.
More plans are in an office.
“We see the renewable energy sector,” he said.
“We will soon come out with open access policies, and after cabinet approval, the expression of interest will float,” he said.
Under open access policy, he said, entities or individuals will be allowed to sell solar energy produced by it to anyone he wants, but will be asked to give the same government as peak time.
“Anyone will be able to have a solar installation and invest in battery storage,” he said.
“During the day, the solar energy generator will be able to use the electricity department network for free and supply to any consumer, but (must) supply 50% to the government between 6pm and 11:00.
