VALPOI: The job of placing a new water pipe in Paikul-Sattari began on Thursday after the bridge connecting to Paikul Village was washed from the recent flood which greatly affected the pipe.
Water supply to Paikul, Shel, Melauli, Murmune and Maigine villages have been disturbed because of the incident.
The pipe will be connected to the Paicul Water Treatment Plant to ensure unbroken water supply for villagers and for others living in neighboring areas.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that because the pipe was affected because the bridge was swept away, a high-level meeting discussed moving pipes underground.
“As committed to people, officials have begun working together in the top priority and new pipe work will be completed before the Chaturthi Ganesh Festival,” Rane said.
He also said that 24/7 water supply in various parts of the Sattari country is the main demand for the people and he will provide the same.
Paicul Bridge is the only source of connectivity for the villagers and after recent collapse, due to flooding, merging and the surrounding area has been cut off.
