Thane: Godman Stylish 28-year-old has been arrested for allegedly deceiving a woman of Rs 32 Lakh to “expel evil spirit”, in the Thane Maharashtra district, police said on Thursday.
Police arrested Baban Baburao Patil from the Jalgaon District in North Maharashtra last week, he said.
The defendant has been ordered under the 420 section (cheating) and 406 (criminal violations of trust) IPC and Prevention of Maharashtra and Eradication of Human Sacrifices and Evil, Evil and Aghori practices and ACT Magic, 2013, said officials from the Ramnagar police station in Dombivli.
The complainant, which is a resident of Kalwa, has accused that the defendant has promised to drive evil spirits in his family and demand money from him from time to time since December 2019, he said.
Patil has taken Rs 31.60 lakh and some expensive objects from him during this period and did nothing to resolve the problem, the official said.
The defendant was served before the local judge who returned him to the police custody for two days, he added.
