VADODARA: Two Members of the Faculty of Navrachana University (NU)-based University (NU) jointly pocketed the prestigious inter-disciplinary research fund from the Department of Science and Technology, the Science and Engineering Research Council (DST-Seri) from the Indian government.
Dr.
Amit Patwa, the main (chemical) investigator and Dr.
Parth Pandya, the main investigator (life science) has been awarded the funding of RS 40 Lakh under the core research grant of their project on the ‘oligonucleotide-based amphiphile-based supramolulating system for targeted drug delivery’.
This project is mainly focused on the design and synthesis of new molecules for targeted cancer treatments.
According to the duo, current therapy for cancer treatment is sedated with side effects.
Design a new molecule to target these cells because it requires hours.
“Our research will open a new path from selectively targeted therapy using this new molecule,” they said.
In addition to a junior researcher, the researchers will also involve Master and PhD students from the School of Science in this project to expose them to the latest research.
The Patwa held a PhD from the National Chemistry Laboratory, Pune, pursued post-doctoral research in Bordeaux, France for more than five years and at Boston University, United States.
He currently works as assistant professor in NU.
