Chennai: Customs officers confiscated 390 grams of gold and electronic goods worth Rs 22.31 lakh from passengers at Chennai Airport on Friday.
Passengers are arrested.
Based on intelligence, a 53-year-old man, who arrived from Sharjah in Arabia air flights (G9-473), was intercepted at the officers out by the Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officer.
In personal search and passenger examination, one gold chain weighs 80 grams recovering from the pocket of his pants.
Gold bundles weighing 310 grams and worth RS 16.3 lakh recovered from the anal.
Furthermore, electronic goods worth Rs 6 lakh which were not stated by passengers and carried in the luggage of the check-in also recovered.
The total value of the item confiscated is Rs 22.31 lakh.
They were confiscated based on Customs Law, 1962.
