Coimbatore: Sleuggells Directorate of Income Intelligence has won nearly four kg of gold worth Rs 1.92 Crore from passengers at the airport coimbatore.
Foreign gadgets and cigarettes worth Rs 1.16 Crore are also confiscated from passengers.
Six passengers, who arrived at the airport from Sharjah, were arrested.
In a statement, officials said they received a tip-off that a large number of gold, gadgets and cigarettes in the number of trade were smuggled into the city on Monday by passengers.
A team reached the airport and suspicious passengers arrived here in Arabic air flights.
When they were examined, gold was found hidden in their pocket bags and rectums.
They recovered next and registered cases.
The total value of the confiscated item is valued at RS 3.08 Crore.
