Chennai: Sleuth Customs arrested two passengers, who arrived at the city airport from Dubai, and grabbed more than 8kg of gold worth around Rs 4 Crore.
Asaithambi, 22, axle and Viknesh, 26, from Puddukottai, intercepted at the exit based on certain intelligence, said a statement.
After the examination and scanning of the luggage of the Asuaitambi, the officials found two half-cylinder gold plates of 24K purity and two circular gold plates from 24K purely hunted in the extractor juice and rice cooker.
The total heavy weight of gold was found 5.9kg.
On the mincer food examination and Nebulizer in the luggage check-in Viknesh, officials found 37 gold plate 24k purity and 19 gold plate 24k purity.
The total gold recovered from Viknesh after extraction weighed 2.2kg, the release said.
Both passengers were arrested and the Urther investigation was in progress.
