Jaipur: The Customs Department won more than 1 kg of gold worth Rs 56.16 Lakh from a passenger who landed from Sharjah at Jaipur International Airport on Tuesday.
Passengers, who were arrested, had hidden gold in his underwear and the cavity made in jeans and officials claimed that he was the first person to tighten the plane in the impression that he might not be detected.
Officials also claim that the operator turned to smuggle gold by hiding it in underwear which contradicts the method of hiding it in electronic components.
“On the basis of suspicion, customs officers intercept one passenger, who arrived from Sharjah on Tuesday morning.
During the personal search of passengers, the yellowish granular pasta packaged in transparent polyethylene bags found hidden in jeans and underwear.
A total of 1133,500 grams of gold of 99.50 %, worth RS 56.16 Lakh was extracted from pasta and was confiscated based on the provisions of Customs Law, 1962.
Passengers were arrested.
