Golden Globes voters are prohibited from receiving gifts

The group behind the luxurious Golden Hollywood globes has banned its members from receiving luxury gifts, travel, and other free, after controversy over ethics and practice causing the next year’s ceremony to be canceled.
Hollywood’s foreign press association scrambled to reform itself – and the award had an effect, but the scandal showed its members to choose – amid broad criticism of group records of diversity and transparency.
In particular, the exclusive group of 80-strange film journalists has been accused of exploiting the prestige that comes with the ball nomination or victory to get favorable facilities and unmatched access to Hollywood stars.
Under new policies approved Thursday, “HFPA members will not be allowed to receive promotional material or other prizes from studios, public relations, actors, directors or other people associated with moving images and television programs.
“HFPA is dedicated to transformational changes described in the reform plan and its timeline,” said the group in a statement for AFP.
“Yesterday, the organization put some important parts to move forward with reform.”
The second Golden Globes are only for Oscar in the Hollywood film award season, but their future status is questionable.
A group of more than 100 Public Tinseltown wrote to HFPA in March which demanded the purpose of “discriminatory, unprofessional behavior, ethical irregularities and alleged financial corruption,” join criticism from the time group.
A-listers like Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo slammed the reform of organizers because it was too slow and inadequate, while Tom Cruise returned his three golden balls to HFPA in protest.
Strong studios including Warner Bros., Netflix and Amazon said they would not work with HFPA until more meaningful and significant changes were made.
In May, NBC canceled the prestigious reward broadcast next year.
Last month, two members resigned in protests in the “toxic” atmosphere in the ranks.
“We will continue to update the industry on our progress when we choose new regulations that will create an inclusive, diverse and accountable organization – which our members, stakeholders and partners will be proud of,” the group said.
