NEW DELHI: The Bharat Darshan Park, that has been manufactured by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) at Punjabi Bagh, appears to become embroiled in another controversy having some Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) associates on Monday demanding thirds of this replica of Golden Temple being constructed there.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president, DSGMCsaid that they were united in raising their voice and could act against any kind of disrespect shown into the sanctum sanctorum of Sikhs.
But, Mukesh Suryan, mayor, SDMC, stated Sirsa wasn’t the only representative of those Sikhs and broader consultations could be obtained with other spiritual leaders.
“The playground includes replicas of temples and significant monuments from all religions.
It’s being designed to showcase our country’s heritage.
It isn’t intended to disrespect any network.
Sirsa shouldn’t play politics within this kind of issue,” the mayor explained, adding Sirsa and Union minister Hardeep Puri were current in the foundation laying ceremony of this playground.
Meanwhile, the Sirsa tweeted,”Darbar Sahib, Amritsar isn’t a tourist place which could be replicated.
It’s the sanctum sanctorum for both Sikhs and visiting a copy for touristy offends us into the center (sic)” A civic official said folks in the Sikh community came at the website on Monday morning to harm the arrangements, but had been stopped.
The mayor stated, for now, the work with this arrangement could be retained pending and consensus constructed on the matter.
The councillor in Punjabi Bagh, Kailash Sankla, stated that this was a non-issue which was being dismissed in light of the coming municipal elections.
“After the foundation stone has been placed, Puri and also the gurdwara committee leader were also current.
If anybody wished to raise some objection, it might have been done afterward.
Artists are attempting to flaunt our national background and folks shouldn’t attempt and stroke spiritual sentiments on this matter,” he further added.
Bharat Darshan Park has been set up following the achievement of the Waste into Wonder Park, which showcases the seven wonders of earth.
It’ll host replicas of major heritage sites and monuments, such as Konark Temple, Charminar, Nalanda ruins, Golden Temple, Meenakshi Temple and Sanchi Stupa.
An official said that the park has been distributed around 8 acres and might host 18 replicas.
With an estimated price of Rs 1.12 crore, the Golden Temple replica is anticipated to be the most costly.
Just as 12 tonnes of garbage was utilized for its construction, which will be approximately 22 feet , the official added.
“Meticulous function of numerous artists has been ruined,” a formal commented.
The playground was anticipated to be finished by March-April, however, Covid postponed the job by three weeks.
