KENNESAW: Professional golfer and two other men were killed in shootings at state clubs in the Atlanta area and the suspect was still large, the authorities said.
Officers found a man who was not responsive with a clear gunshot wound on the head Saturday afternoon near the 10th golf hole at Pinetree Country Club at Kennesaw, police officer Cobb County Shenis Barner told Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The department identified him Sunday as a state club employee and Eugene Siller golfer.
“The tragedy has hit the Georgia PGA section in our members’ loss, Gene Siller.
Mind and prayer for his family and family club Pinetree,” The Georgia part of the professional golfer association said in a tweet.
After further investigation, the police said two other dead were found in a green pickup truck which was green.
Both have clear gunshot wounds.
Barner said one was identified as Paul Pierson, registered truck owners, and that other men have not been identified.
The police have not found the killer.
Neighbors John Lavender told Waga-TV that he heard “five, six booms left” and not sure whether it was a shot or fireworks.
“You just don’t think it’s a shot in this area,” he said.
Country Club is near the Kennesaw State University campus.
The school tweeted on Saturday, after shooting, that there was no credible threat to the campus, which was about 25 miles northwest (40 kilometers) from the center of Atlanta.
