Google formed Android SE Alliance to increase the popularity and adoption of digital car keys and driver licenses to be stored on the device in March 2021.
Then in May, Google officially announced that finally joining Apple and it will start adding digital car keys support on Android 12 To help unlock a car supported with your cellphone.
The XDA developer reported that there were several new references related to the main function of digital cars in the latest Google Play service updates (V21.39.15).
There is no official announcement about the launch of this new update but it can be assumed that it will be introduced when stable Android 12 is available on pixel devices.
After launching a device that is compatible with Google Play service updates in the future, users will see update notifications to help them set up features.
Tapping the notification will bring up a pop-up that says: “It will install digital car key services on your mobile.
You will get a notification in a few minutes to keep setting your key.” The XDA-Developers highlight that the digital car key feature will use NFC to help Open the vehicle.
This feature can only support selected cellular devices and in certain regions when launched.
Although, this may soon pass to other areas in the coming months because it develops.
All digital car keys can be stored safely on Google Pay.
This feature will use NFC and UWB to open the car key safely.
Upcoming features are expected to be available for both pixel devices and choose the Samsung Galaxy device.
