New Delhi: In May this year, Google promised to launch a solution that would address spam problems on Google Drive.
The company officially announced that it launched the ability to block people in the drive.
You only need to right-click on the shared file to reveal the new option as the second last option on the menu.
Blocked users will not be able to share the items uploaded with you and the drive will also hide the previous agreement sent to your account.
“The ability to share drives, productivity and fuel collaboration, but bad actors can abuse the tools intended to facilitate sharing that helps.
That is why it is important to have the security control needed to fend this share threat”, Google said in blog posts.
This feature is available for Google Workspace customers and personal account holders.
The company has started launching today and will be available for all users in the coming weeks.
User blocking will help protect the user drive in three ways: block other users from sharing any content with you in the future.
This can be a useful control if, for example, other users have a history of sending spam or rough content.
Delete all existing files and folders distributed by other users.
This is an easy way to get rid of all spam or rough content shared by certain users at a time.
Delete other people’s access to your content, even if you previously shared them to them.
Meanwhile, Google launched ‘backup by Google One’ as an update for existing Android backup services which now means that end users only need to know one synchronization to the cloud.
Android backups currently include application data, SMS messages, call history, contacts, and device preferences – including Wi-Fi networks and passwords, wallpapers, display settings (brightness and sleep), settings and dates / time.
