Google has released new workspace updates as part of where it gets the ability to mark suspicious files on the drive and let the account owner know by sending emails to them.
Any file will be marked if it does not meet the requirements of Google’s services and the spam policy.
A suspicious file will be limited which means that the creator or file owner will still be able to access it but it will not be able to share it with others.
This applies to existing shared links too.
Updates are being launched and are expected to reach all users within two weeks.
The files marked by Google will also carry a flag next to their name, to make it stand out from the others.
As for the email, the owner can appeal against Google’s decision as marking them as spam.
If the file is found as shared, in several accounts, the email will be sent to the storage manager.
“This will help ensure the owner of Google Drive items is fully informed about their content status, while also helping to ensure that users are protected from rough content.”, Google said on BlogPost.
According to Google, there is no admin control for this feature.
There are several reports in the past about the drive used to share spam files and pirated content too.
With new Google Drive updates this will be able to check suspicious files when they are shared.
