Companies around the world have encouraged employees to vaccinate against Covid-19.
While some have made it mandatory to vaccinate for employees to return to the office, others have not been so strict about it.
According to a report by CNBC, several hundreds of Google employees urged the company to withdraw its vaccine mandate.
Google, according to the report, has asked for more than 1.5 lakh employees to upload their vaccination status to its internal system.
Google also said that employees who work with government contracts must be vaccinated mandatory.
In the email sent in October to all employees, Chris Rackow, Google VP of Security said, “Vaccines are the key to our ability to allow a safe return to the office for everyone and minimize the spread of Covid-19 in our community.” However, around 600 Google employees have circulated Manifesto and mention the company’s “disabled” vaccine policy.
Manifesto has been written by Google employees who are not named who say that stopping employees who are not vaccinated to return to the office “may be embarrassing personal choice because it will be difficult for Googler not to reveal why they cannot return.” Furthermore, Manifesto noted that employees would not feel comfortable revealing their true sentiment about the company’s health policy and other sensitive topics that were not related.
“This has caused a perspective that was silenced and worsened the ‘Echo space’ of the internal ideology that people both inside and outside Google had observed for years,” Manifesto records.
The CNBC report also revealed that some employees believe that Google should not know the secret of their employees and medical history.
The employee also believes that if the vaccine mandate is received, it can cause intrusion steps from the company.
“This normalizes the urge of medical intervention not only for Covid-19 vaccination but for vaccines in the future and maybe even non-vaccine interventions with extensions,” manifesto records.
Because Google is an industrial leader, the mandate can “affect companies around the world to consider this as an acceptable exchange,” the employee said.
Google has not made it mandatory for all of its employees to vaccinate.
However, it did not change his attitude.
A spokesman for Google told CNBC that the company stood behind his policy: “As we declare to all our employees and the author of this document, our vaccination requirements are one of the most important ways, we can maintain our security and keep our service running .
We firmly stand behind our vaccination policy.
