With most companies that adopted a hybrid work plan that includes offices with limited days in a week, it becomes difficult to plan direct meetings because your colleagues do not need to be considered whether you will be present or not in the office on certain days or not.
To help plan meetings better, Google has added new features on the Google calendar that automatically let your colleague know your location on a certain date.
This feature will be launched from August 30 and you will be able to mark your work location on your own Google calendar.
You can add a weekly work location routine and update your location as a change plan.
Until now, there are four choices – “office,” “home,” “not specific,” or “elsewhere” – to mark your calendar.
“By showing other people where a week you plan to be in the office, work from home, or work from other locations, it’s easier to plan direct collaboration or set hope at the Hybrid workplace,” Google said on his official blog post.
This feature will be turned on by default and can be disabled at the domain level or OU by the Google Workspace Admin.
“If you want to deactivate this feature settings and prevent the onboarding promo from being displayed automatically for your users, make sure to deactivate the settings in the admin console before August 30, 2021,” he added.
For users, this will be turned off by default, except deactivated by your admin.
“You will be shown onboarding dialogs with the option to activate features starting from August 30, 2021.
This feature can be activated with the initial onboarding dialog or in your calendar settings,” Google said.
