Google Maps has become an absolute application changer application.
The way people plan their trips have been transformed by what is one of the widely used Google applications.
One of the best features of Google Maps is a turn-by-turn navigation which is really useful for users to achieve certain goals.
However, it looks like you won’t get a feature unless you agree with the new Google Crowdfunding feature.
Why does Google bring this ‘change’? According to a report by 9To5Google, the technology giant makes it mandatory for users to cut their navigation data.
The user will see a prompt in the form of a dialog box entitled “How to Make Navigation Data Make a Map”.
The box will appear only after you tap “start” on the Google Maps direction page.
Prompt is read, “When you navigate, Google collects details, such as the GPS location and the route you take.
This data can be used to make information, including real-time traffic conditions and interference, seen by others and help them find the fastest route.
“If the user disagrees with crowdsource navigation data, then they will not get a turn-by-turn navigation, sound feedback.
Instead, you will get step-by-step instructions in a static form.
How does the navigation data on Google Maps work? When you use Google Maps Turn-by-Turn navigation, Google collects data to help reflect the world in real-time for everyone.
Data used include, GPS location, transportation mode, navigation details, such as routes you take, data sensors from your device, such as barometers.
Google says that it uses your data “by itself or combined with other people to make a better map.” Using data, Google can increase navigation, suggest alternative routes that are faster to save time and show real-time updates, such as traffic, interference, and weather conditions.
If you don’t agree with your crowdsource data, almost all of these features will not be available.
When will the user see this ‘change’? Prompt navigation is set to appear for Google Maps users on Android and iOS starting today.
However, we checked and it did not appear on our iOS device now.
Users can expect it to reach them faster than later.
