WhatsApp chat backups on Google Drive is free and don’t count against your current Google Drive storage quota.
But this will change in the future.
According to a report by Wabetainfo, Google plans to stop offering unlimited plans to store your WhatsApp backup.
Instead, companies can introduce limited plans for the same thing.
In particular, they plan to introduce changes to backup, notifications about when Google drives are almost full, when the limits are achieved and information about when the change applies.
This report shares a screenshot that shows some important strings that explain what has changed in the update in the future.
According to this string, WhatsApp backup on Google Drive will continue to be free, but it will be a limited plan.
This report does not provide details or information about new storage plans.
Previous report by Wabetainfo last year suggested that WhatsApp can allow users to manage the size of the backup.
This website sees a new section that allows users to exclude certain media to be included in the next backup.
The exact reason why WhatsApp developed this feature is unknown.
Now Google is reported to stop the unlimited plan for the WHATSAPP backup, the ability to manage reserve size makes sense.
Because it will allow users to decide what to put in the WHATSAPP reserve.
