Google signed a 5-year agreement to pay news from AFP

OAKLAND: Google Inc.
Google will start paying Agence France-Presse for news content as part of a broad five-year partnership announced on Wednesday which marks one of the largest licensing agreements that are beaten by the new technology giant.
AFP Accord follows France to enforce copyright laws that create “neighboring rights,” requires large technology companies to open talks with news publishers who want payment of licenses.
Google refused to reveal the financial provisions of the agreement, but confirmed will run for five years.
The company said in a joint press release which they will also collaborate on the project, such as facts.
“This agreement is the recognition of the value of information,” Fabrice Fries, Agence France-Presse’s Chief Executive, said in a statement.
Google earlier this year agreed to pay $ 76 million for three years to a group of 121 French news publishers.
But the deal has been detained, while waiting for the results of the antitrust procession where the French competition regulator accused Google failed to negotiate with good faith.
