Google, Xiaomi, Vivo will use Samsung displays for their foldable phones

NEW DELHI: Last year an online report revealed that Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi and Google will be launching their foldable smartphones this year.
Then a recent online report claimed that Samsung will be supplying folding displays to Oppo, Xiaomi and Google.
Now a new report has surfaced online which suggests Samsung will start the mass production for its OLED panels from October this year.
The report also adds that Google, Oppo and Xiaomi are planning to unveil their foldable smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2021.
According to a report by The Elec, Google is expected to launch its foldable Pixel smartphone with a 7.6-inch inwards folding display.
On the other hand, Vivo is said to use an 8-inch panel for its foldable smartphone which will come with a squarish design and 10.2:9 aspect ratio.
The report also reveals that these panels are being made on the A3 lines in Samsung’s Asan plant.
According to the report, the foldable smartphone from Vivo will also have a 6.5-inch external display.
The screen size for the foldable smartphone from Xiaomi is not known right now.
The report further adds that Oppo was expected to launch its foldable smartphone using Samsung panels, but the company has pushed the launch to 2022.
The foldable smartphone from Oppo is said to come with a clamshell design same as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
The smartphone is said to house a 7.1-inch LTPO panel inside as well as a small 1.5-2 inch external display.
Presently, Samsung is the only smartphone maker that offers a maximum number of foldable smartphones.
The company is also expected to launch three new foldable devices this year.
It is also said that this year Samsung is planning to launch an affordable foldable smartphone.
