‘Governance requires investment, professionalism’

Chennai: Minister of Finance Tamil Nadu Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said the governance and public administration in India needed more professionalism and continuity to ensure efficiency.
“I just took the institutional knowledge / memory just like that, but I got the biggest surprise when I assumed the office.
In the administration, we do not have institutional continuity / knowledge that simple small businesses will be built into it,” he said.
“We need more Investment and professionalism in the field of government, “he added.
Rajan talks about Federalism at the XVI International Conference on Public Policy and Management organized by the Public Policy Center at IIM Bangalore (IIM B) on Monday.
He noted that ministers and bureaucrats continued to change and continuity only occurred under the cadres of IAS officers, who were rarely related to the ministers.
