Patna: The suspension of an elementary school teacher in Katihar Regency to sell empty gunny bags in the local market has invited protests throughout the state of the government’s actions.
A contract teacher-cum-principal government elementary school in Block Kadwa Kadihar, Mohammad Tamizuddin, was suspended after a video showing he sold a heap of empty burlap sacks on his head in the local market into a viral on social media.
The suspension letter was issued on August 8 by Pancayati Raj Department on the recommendation of the Ministry of Education.
In accordance with the orders of the state government, schools have been directed to sell all burlap sacks where food gardens are supplied to schools under the midday eating scheme during the 2014-15-16-16 financial years.
On July 22, the Director of the MDM scheme, Satish Chandra Jha, issued a letter that directed Deos and DPO to ask for school to sell gunny bags at RS10 per piece and maintain the specified format.
This order was released after the Accountant Office (AG) in Patna note that empty sacks were not sold, resulting in loss of power in the state.
Brajnandan Sharma, President of the Bihar Primary Teacher Association, called a suspension as ‘Tuxlaqi Fanir’ (decision).
“The state government always blames teachers for one or another.
We have demanded the government to free teachers from non-academic activities.
The department should serve the notification of the cause of the show, instead of suspending it directly,” he said.
Anand Mishra, Secretary of Parivartankari Prarambhik Shatsyaki Sangh, also expressed his solidarity with the suspended teacher and said the government made a hurry decision.
Several elementary school associations have been planned to protest their block headquarters on August 13 and district headquarters on August 16 against the government’s decision.
Katihar Deo Deobind Kumar Singh told this newspaper on Wednesday that the action was taken against Tamizuddin for non-compliance with the department’s order and tarnished the image of the teacher, the Ministry of Education and State.
“The school has been asked to sell empty gunny sacks and deposited money in school funds.
The department has also repaired money for sacks.
However, the way he sells the sack against the code of behavior of the teacher.
He tarnished the image of Bihar, by doing nucad natak, while selling sacks on His head and carrying placards.
The suspension was sent on this land and the department process will begin with it, “he said.
In a letter released by the end of the night, the MDM Director stated that the demonstration in public by a major teacher in Katihar by placing a bundle of sacks in his head was not only indecent but also opposed behavioral regulations.
“This is an action to tarnish the image of the department,” read the part of the letter.
