Kanpur: The State Government on Tuesday ordered an investigation with a special investigation team (sitting) into a video that showed senior officer IAS Mohammad Iftikharuddin, currently posted as Chair of the Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) told the benefits of adopting Islam.
Viral videos were said to be a religious event when he posted as a Divisional Commissioner, Kanpur between 2014 and 2017.
The videos also featured religious leaders sitting beside the officers.
In other videos, iftikharuddin was seen sitting on the ground while a Muslim scholar gave a radical lesson at his residence.
Sitting will be led by DG, CB-CID, G L Meena while Adg Kanpur Zone Bhanu Bhaskar will be a member.
“Sit has been directed to submit an investigation report to the government in seven days,” said the sources in the home department of the country.
After about half a dozen videos into Viral, the National Vice President’s Mathematics Coordination Committee Bhupesh Awasthi also made several accusations against IAS officers.
Awasthi said the video showed Iftikharuddin told the benefits of adopting Islam.
“I have seen videos where many things that do not deserve to be said to be against Hindu.
Many suspicions are made.
Statements are made to support certain religions,” Awasthi added.
“In one video like that, a Muslim scholars talked about repentance and IAS officers sitting and carefully listening to their requests.

At the same time, in another video, iftikharuddin looks sitting in a chair and Reading tales from religious books.

After the video became Viral, Police Commissioner Asim Kumar Arun instructed the deputy commissioner of the Additional Police (East) Result Meena to investigate this problem.
“Video Investigation Viral of IAS Mohd Iftikharuddin taken at the residence of Commissioner of Kanpur has been entrusted to the ADCP East, the Police Coming, Kanpur Nagar.

On Monday, even the Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “This is a serious problem.
If there is something like this, it will be taken seriously.” Iftikharuddin was the Kanpur division commissioner from February 17, 2014 to April 22, 2017.
