Bhubaneswar: Odisha has booked with Tata Medical and Diagnostics (Tata MD) for five RT-PCR Lakh Omisi tests that can directly detect the omicron variant of Covid-19 without going through a long genome sequencing process.
A government official said The Odisha State Medical Corporation (OSMCL) recently ordered.
A statement of MD said Odisha was the first country in the country to order MD Tata to examine the RT-PCR test kit developed in partnership with ICMR to detect Omicron variants from Covid-19.
The statement quoted Krishnamurthy Girish, CEO and Managing Director said, “Omisure is the only test that can specifically detect the omicron variant at the test point.
We would like to thank the Odisha government, the first country in the country that has decided to use MD Tata Omisure for Covid testing, and will provide all the necessary support.
“Omisure is the only test approved by the ICMR for the omicron variant detection.
