New Delhi: The government plans to come up with a policy of incentives related to semiconductor designs to promote domestic manufacturing and attract global electronic chip companies to the country, according to official sources.
The global majors such as Qualcomm, Intel, MediaTek, Infineon, and Texas Instruments have their research and development in India that contribute to the development of their chipsets.
“The government negotiates in the incentive scheme related to new semiconductor designs that imagine financial and infrastructure support for MSMEs and Startup India through the ideate stage to the production stage.
As and when this startup starts producing and selling chips on the market, they will do it also utilize additional incentives below Schemes on their net sales change, “said the official source to PTI.
The Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar last week said that the government would host the semiconductor company conference in November to discuss the Indian policy roadmap in the segment.
“This is a great initiative that will utilize the power of India to have an impact on the field of semiconductor design.
We can target to have 25 fabless plus companies in the next few years which will make substantial impact on the global semiconductor market,” Chairperson of the Iesa Industrial Agency Rajeev Khushu said .
The semiconductor design is the main driver of income obtained by electronic chip companies from their upper class components sales.
