New Delhi: The central government plans to increase monthly financial support given to children who lose their parents to Covid-19 from Rs 2,000 to RS 4,000, a senior official said on Tuesday.
The official said the proposal could go to the cabinet for approval in the next few weeks.
The Ministry of Women and Children have proposed that the monthly benefits given to children who lose their parents to pandemics increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000, the official said.
The government in May has announced that children who have lost their parents or parents who are survived or legitimate guardian parents because Covid-19 will be supported under the scheme ‘important for children.
Until now, from 3,250 applications received under the scheme, a total of 667 was approved by the district judge concerned, according to ministry data.
Data also shows that the application has been received from 467 districts until now.
