Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Saturday confirmed his observations that political disorders disrupted the higher education sector as the political agenda of the state government exceeded academic services when choosing representatives of the university chancellor in the state.
Khan who fired a strong letter to the head of Pinarayi Vijayan’s head on Wednesday, revealed his willingness to step aside as Chancellor of the State University, told reporters in New Delhi on Saturday that he was forced to write the letter because he had run out of choices.
to ensure university autonomy and integrity.
He said he tried to avoid confrontation with the government, but the latter refused to get along.
When he arrived at the issue of selecting candidates for the position of representative of the university chancellor, the government tried to bind the governor’s hand to encourage the political agenda, he said.
“The minister’s chairman has nothing to do with the university.
While school education in the state if well, higher education has been going to dogs.
Even the promise made to the rules,” Khan said.
The governor, who is also the Chancellor of the State University, said he was truly serious when he suggested the minister’s head to bring regulations to take the role of the Chancellor himself.
“Chancellor is not a constitutional post.
That’s why I ask Vijayan to bring regulations where cm can take over as a chancellor,” the Governor said.
Khan said he felt the pain attached when the government decided to re-elevate the Chancellor of the University of Kannur University, even though Chancellor raised related questions about the suitability of such decisions.
“That was after signing the order that I decided to write to CM, asking him to take over as a chancellor,” Khan told reporters.
The governor said he was very sad because the government refused to improve his way even though there was a repeat request.
“The governor is made by the University Chancellor with the aim of ensuring transparency,” he said.
Khan added that students were forced to leave Kerala for high quality education.
The governor explained that the government tried to tie his hand by giving the name of the government’s candidate for the appointment to the Post Deputy Chief of the Sansech College, Kalady.
“If there is more than one name, I can choose the person who is most suitable for the job,” he said.
