Panaji: Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Wednesday extended heartiest greetings and warm wishes to the people of the country on the joyous occasion of Diwali.
Stating that the festival of lights, is celebrated throughout the country with cheerfulness and enthusiasm irrespective of caste, creed or religion, strengthen the spirit of Indian unity.
Originating spirit of victory of truth over evil, Pillai urged people to work to protect the country’s sovereignty.
“For the unity of the people, for the integrity of the nation and to safeguard and protect the sovereignty of the nation, I ask all the people of India to be one.
Raj Bhavan will also be making more and more efforts toward this process, “said Pillai.
Governor, who has started an outreach program called Deepavali Milan, said that he aims to provide more assistance to the less fortunate.
Pillai host receptions for children from orphanages and shelters and is scheduled to hold a similar reception on Friday for patients on dialysis and those with HIV.
Further, he said that since the governor is appointed constitutional post, he will strive to maintain “good relations with all political parties”.
“Cordial relations between the ruling government and Raj Bhavan is the need of the hour.
I will stick to it.
I will not interfere in any politics, “he said when asked about the current state government.
“Let the people decide on the government Pramod Sawant.” Pillai also expressed his desire to make the Raj Bhavan more accessible to all.
