JAMSHEDPUR: Former Minister of Ministers and now Vice President BJP Raghubar Das expressed concern over the increasing incidence of violence against women in the state.
Overcoming women’s cadres of a party in the steel city, the watershed said: “Women do not feel safe in the state and no one is done by the government to give them security.” He said that since the Hemant Soren government in power, women did not enjoy the security they did during the previous regime.
He pointed to various incidents where women were victims of increasing crime in the state.
DAS said the adivasis was also insecure, their identity – “Jal, Jungle, guarantee” (water, forest and land) are under threat.
He said the tribes had been targeted on their own land, which showed the current government attitude towards them.
Providing data, DAS said in the last 19 months, 2,725 rape cases had been recorded in the state.
Speaking of reducing law and order, former MLA from the East Assembly segment Jamshedpur said because the government came to power in 2019, 2,961 murder cases had been submitted.
He said this gave a clear picture of the efforts of the Mahagathbandan government to curb crime.
He said high promises were made before polls by the alliance that they would ensure women get rights because of work for economic independence, but after they came to power, nothing was done on the ground.
Former Potka Mla Menka Sardar also voiced the same concern.
