CHENNAI: AIADMK organizer O Panneerselvam on Tuesday urged the Tamil Nadu authorities to deal with non-Covid patients with utmost caution because there were reports of beds used just for Covid instances and non-Covid patients never being admitted to federal agencies.
In a report, Panneerselvam warned of deaths of non-Covid patients in case such a scenario prevailed.
“Poor folks affected by other ailments are facing enormous problems in receiving treatment in government hospitals.
You will find reports of non-Covid patients awaiting long for surgeries completed because the beds at government hospitals are taken around for Covid patients when there’s been a rise in Covid instances in the past couple of months,” OPS stated.
Panneerselvam alleged that comparable scenarios prevailed in hospitals such as Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital along with Stanley Medical College and Hospital.
Even as different areas were allocated to non-Covid patients, just individuals injured in road mishaps and elderly women have been given therapy while those with other problems such as kidney and heart ailments and people requiring dialysis weren’t admitted as inpatients, he explained.
