Govt invites bids for Shipping of Covid vaccines from drones

NEW DELHI: The government has invited bids for shipping of Covid-19 vaccines and medications to distant locations and people who have tough terrains in select areas of the nation from drones to make sure last-mile coverage.

Coronavirus: Live updatesOn benefit of the ICMR, the HLL Infra Tech Services Limited (Procurement Service Agency) has invited expression of interest (EOI) throughout the Central Public Procurement Portal from seasoned Indian agencies to the shipping of medical equipment (vaccines/drugs) from UAVs.
As stated by the tender standards, the ICMR will participate UAV operators that can run beyond visual field of sight (BVLOS) surgeries in stationary admissions flight paths, provide medical equipment payload at select places in India and come back to the control channel.
Throughout the prevailing outbreak, various agencies are assisting the authorities stop and manage the transmission of both Covid-19.
To strengthen the delivery of experiments, the ICMR successfully ran a feasibility analysis to provide vaccines through UAVs in cooperation with IIT, Kanpur, the bidding document said.
“According to the preliminary outcomes of the analysis, the ICMR has established a standard protocol to the effective delivery of experiments utilizing a UAV.
“Currently, depending on the experience obtained from the feasibility analysis, the ICMR is eager to develop a prototype for vaccine delivery by UAV from the area practice space to reach places to pay last-mile policy at challenging terrain in chosen places,” it stated.
“The principal objective of this proposed work will be to create a health care equipment delivery version and its feasibility in the area practice area using UAVs in distant inaccessible (difficult to reach) regions in selected places in India,” it added.
According to the specifications, UAVs need to have the ability to pay a minimal remote distance of 35 kilometers, capable to take off and take a minimum payload of 4 kg and must be effective at returning to control station after providing the payload.
At first, the tenure of involvement will be 90 days.
This may be extended further based on the operation of the UAV operator and also the requirement of the application.
