Govt launched a closing plan, Merger Media Film Unit

New Delhi: Information Union and Broadcasting Broadcasting on Thursday was included in the Public Domain Recommended Report of the Julka-LED Bim Expert Committee on Rationalization, Closure and Combining Film Media Unit, seven months after being submitted to the Ministry.
Fill in the June 2020 report was made by the general months after the government announced the merger of all film units and took them under the body of the umbrella – a national film development company.
The formal merger must be executed this month.
The Expert Committee, led by former Secretary of I & B, Festival, Heritage and Knowledge, which each will conduct various activities to avoid overlapping, duplication, waste financial resources and for more efficient and coordinated film management.
Although four of the seven members of the expert committee represent the film industry, the announcement of the merger caused strong opposition by large fences related to the film industry.
In December, more than 1,500 people affiliated in various capacities to the film industry sent a letter to I & B services to the government’s decision to combine all branches of the film division (FD), the Directorate of Film Festival (DFF), Indian National Film Archives (NFAI) and Indian children’s film community (CFAI) with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
The letter demanded delaying the merger until the transparency problem was resolved.
It also said that publicly funded institutions such as FD, NFAI and CFSI should not be combined with companies such as NFDC and demanded that the government must declare them as a national heritage.
However, the committee, in his report round proposed that the NFDC mandate could be expanded through the expansion of the association budget.
It is said that the film production division under a company that joins can also operate “separate ‘film production funds that can facilitate the production of’ independent cinema ‘and can fund, maybe up to 20% of production costs”.
“It will be limited to small and medium producers and can be funded through equity infusion in the corporation,” said the committee.
