Govt plans to adopt the MP model irrigation outlet: karjol

Dharwad: The Department of Water Resources will choose the intervention model and provide outlets for water supply to the field of farmers directly so that they can use water as they want.
Improving this plan, Minister of Water Resources Govind Karjol said the decision in the view of the droplets, sprinklers and micro irrigation in the country did not provide the desired results.
These projects have not been adopted by more than 40% of farmers, he added.
“Drip irrigation and sprinklers have proven useful for horticultural plants, but not at the expected level for conventional plants.
Micro irrigation is intended for wise water use.
However, the majority of farmers in Karnataka have returned to floods or irrigation flows that they taste useful.
To facilitate this farmer fulfill increasing food demand, water will be supplied directly to the field and it’s up to them to decide on using it, “Karjol said.
The minister said this was successfully adopted in Madhya Pradesh.
By adopting this irrigation model, the cost of irrigation projects will be reduced by 30%.
The minister further said there was no match between approved projects and funds provided to the department.
While the work of Rs 1.05 Lakh Crore has been subject to sanctions, the annual budget allocation is only RS 18,000 Crore.
The carpol also informs that technical approval has been given for the Tupparhalla Water Project.
Immediately, administrative approval will also be given.
This project helps in situations such as flooding in Bennihalla.
