GUWAHATI: In an attempt to examine the potential spread of Covid-19 diseases from the flooding relief camps throughout Assam, the state government has issued a series of new rules to be followed closely by the government accountable for offenders residing in such relief camps.
These include setup of Covid-19 Legislation and testing crews regularly for offenders that have refuge in temporary shelters like high elevated stages, streets and embankments.
It can be noted that while specific areas of flood-affected folks take refuge in relief camps run by the local government, many others favor casual or alternative temporary shelters like high-raised platforms, streets and embankments as suitable shelters.
Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has introduced the SOP for establishing aid camps adhering to societal distancing to its own district units and most stakeholders to consider all needed steps to stop the spread of coronavirus amongst camp inmates during flooding.
The principle says if some temporary shelter is initiated, social distancing of 6 ft shall be guaranteed between each tent and consequently amount of tents will be trashed.
It states for the sake of individuals residing in temporary shelters, a guardian coordination committee will be formed and associates into the committee have been nominated from the offenders themselves containing satisfactory representation of women, teens and young and older individuals to organize with local government.
The local government has to be informed about the occurrence of this camp in the first and asks via gaon burah (village headman) or even lotmondal or panchayat agents shall be put ahead of the local government from the committee.
“The shield co-ordination committee may also organize Covid analyzing /RAT in fixed intervals with the support of the gym.
The shield co-ordination committee could organize Covid-19 vaccination camps to its offenders with the support of district immunization officers,” that the SOP read.
