Govt Slashes RT-PCR test, sample collection fee

Mangaluru: The government has cut down the Covid RT-PCR test price, capping at Rs 500 per test in the private lab, down from RS 800.
This revision emerged after the country’s PC costs from Rs 1,200 to 800 in December last year.
New costs are equivalent to countries such as Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Kerala, while Andhra Pradesh demands the lowest at Rs 475 per test.
In the notification issued last week, the government revised the ceiling of prices for various types of tests for Covid-19.
The RPCR test will cost RS 400 if the sample is called by the government or government institution to a private lab.
For others who are looking for tests in the private lab, the RT-PCR test will cost Rs 500, Truenat Rs 1,250, Cbatat Rs 1,600, RS 400 Quick Antigen Test and Quick Antibody Test (IGG ELISA) RS 500.
